Question IIS on XP Pro OEM

I have just bought the Acer Travelmate 800 Notebook with XP Pro installed and have tried to install the IIS component. The CDs supplied by Acer do not have the necessay files for IIS and according to Acer this is the case with all OEM versions of XP Pro. Is this true?

Further on from that I am left with the problem of installing IIS from somewhere. Any suggestions as I cannot find any possibility to download the necessary files

tnks

It really depends on the manafacturer and model. For example, you get the CD when you order through Dell small business but not through Dell home.

I very much doubt that to be the case. It quite often is a recovery disk which has the windows files as well as the Dell drivers and software on it. They have to give you a copy of the CD incase something goes wrong, they cant not give it to you.

anything thats not on the OEM recovery CD - should come from the OEM itself - contact them about this.

I just bought a Acer 803 and was able to install IIS. The installation couldn't find IIS in D:\i386 so I changed it to C:\i386 and the instalation worked fine.....

But I can get the IIS to work proberly - so maybe the Installation wasn't that good ;-)

borrow someones xp pro cd, does not matter if it is retail/upgrade/full install. even the copies on the net will install IIS. as long as its a copy of xp pro.
