Unhappy installin win xp

when installin win xp pro, everything is done but installation has stopped, with error reading D:\I386\asms. what can be done about this besides cleaning the harddrive? How do I fix this I386 problem? Please help

Question Wellcome in the club

I have the same problem...Fatal error when installing xp pro, and this asms ****...i have no clue what could be wrong...i've tried to format hard drive, but it doesn't make any differences...HELP ANYONE!?!

cant u just skip that file? see if windows is fine without it. if not, borrow a friends cd and try reinstalling.
