installing XP Pro without Operating system

Hi,

I have to install Windows XP Pro on a computer wich has a formatted hard drive.

I assume that I must first create a boot disk, but this .exe (4.3mb) is too big to fit on a 1.44mb disk.

Can someone tell me the step by step instructions on how to install Win XP Pro without operating System, or where to get the information?

Thank you,

Ren

Execute the .exe on another win* operating system (can be done from the cd-rom), and have 4[1] formatted floppies ready.
The .exe is actually a shell programma 'wizard' which tell you what to do.

[1] 4 is needed for windows 2000, dont know how many xp needs

Setup your PC-Bios to boot from CD-ROM and you won´t need any floppy disks... who does care about having a floppy drive nowadays anyway?

M.Hirsch

I was thinking the exact same thing the other day, then I tried to install my Beta copy of Win2003 server, which didn't have any drivers for my Network adapters... So the only way I could get these guys up and running was to copy the files via floppy to the server and install them...

Pain in the ***...

ZIP? CD-RW?

IMHO there is enough better alternatives today. Of course, if your floppy drive still works, you can also use it. Mine is broken for over a year already and i just refuse to spend $20 on a new one... this is 40 CD-Rs!!! (25 CD-RWs)
