Internet Explorer Script Error

When I use Outlook Express 6 and try to print a email, I get an Error "An error has occurred in the script on this page.
Line 1344
Char. 1
Error unspecified error.
Code: 0
Url res://c:\windows\system32\shdoclc.dll/preview.dlg

Do you want to continue running scripts on this page?

Yes / No

How can I correct this error to print my emails?

OS = Windows XP, Printer-canon i350. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I had the exact same problem. Click start - all programs - accessories - system tools - system restore - create a restore point - on the calender go back to a date when you could print your e-mails and restore to that date. It has worked for me so far haven't had any problems yet.
GOOD LUCK!

If you haven't sorted this yet, try 'debranding' Internet Explorer - that is go to Start - Run - Type in "rundll32.exe iedkcs32.dll,Clear" (omitting the inverted commas and make sure there is a space after exe) and OK. This will also remove any annoying "Internet Explorer Provided by XXX" in the title bar.

Solution!!!

First off the problem is not related to any one email program, internet explorer version, or Windows platform. Removal of certain items will remove some registry keys. I too search for a long time to find this solution. When I finally found it, I had to come back and post it. I hope you find this as helpful as I did.

Solution:
From a Win2000 machine export these files from the registry and import on the machine with the print problem/script error. These work on both 2000 and WinXP.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{00000320-0000-0000-C000-
000000000046}]
@="PSFactoryBuffer"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{00000320-0000-0000-C000-
000000000046}\InprocServer32]
@="C:\\WINNT\\system32\\ole32.dll"
"ThreadingModel"="Both"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Interface\{0C733A30-2A1C-11CE-ADE5-

@="ISequentialStream"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Interface\{0C733A30-2A1C-11CE-ADE5-
00AA0044773D}\NumMethods]
@="5"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Interface\{0C733A30-2A1C-11CE-ADE5-
00AA0044773D}\ProxyStubClsid32]
@="{00000320-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Interface\{0000000c-0000-0000-C000-
000000000046}]
@="IStream"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Interface\{0000000c-0000-0000-C000-

Thank You!!

I can't thank you enough, admin_matt! I've been struggling with this "Line 1344 Script Error" for over a month. Your solution was right on!

I didn't have another Windows machine to export from, so I added the missing keys myself by editing the registry. Everything is working properly now.

Thank you, again!!

p.s. You are right that the problem is not related to any program or platform. I was having the problem with America Online, actually.

easy way to fix with System Restore

Re: RE: Script error when printing
Has anybody tried to do the easy way by doing a "system restore" with a prior date.

Start, Program, Accessories, System Tools and System Restore.

It worked for me !

Are you insane or something, you have tons of services that depend on your dlls for M$ Exp. Man you are one brave windows guy, you need to look at windows xp sp2 it does wonders my friend with its built in popup blocker.

Next you need to set your program Access and defaults for xp so it wont look for explorer.

Next thing, your gonna get it installed again when you update ha ha!

Well usually if you go to control panel then look for program access and defaults you can change it their, and then you can tell it what program to use, if you cant find your dell cd, call Dell they should replace it for free, they have for me a few times on my old laptops before it got rid of them! otherwise check the model number and contact your local computer company they might have a copy you can borrow if you can prove you actually own a dell. Thats only if they are dell certified tech team though. Im not talking about them having illegal copies, but like i said dell techs usually have dell cds so that if you dont have yours they can fix your problem for you without your cd!

I went to Control Panel and I couldn't find anything like you said. So I should talk to Dell and have them send me a windows cd? What do I do next since this is Professional and the Dell cd was Home? Since I dont think I can format the drive. I might be able to but if I cant is there an option to install over the old windows or something? Thanks!

(^^;?( I can't make out what you are doing. I.E. cannot be easily deleted from Windows from the first.)

In any ways, your PC must be possessed by something weird. You cannot but clean install it. Take minimum backup and format and use Dell CD. It seems to be no other ways than this to get out of that hell. Since, even if you could overwrite Home on Pro, this does never make any sense.

Yes you can uninstall and reinstall windows Internet Explorer. And yes I agree with you on the possesed part . Ha ha.

Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove programs > Add Remove Windows Components > uncheck the box > Unistall

Then you go to http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=9576&clcid=0x409
and download IE 6

To Change program access defaults!

Go to start > control panel > add remove programs > program access and defaults

Then choose custom and change your program access and defaults
