Is this a VESA video problem?
Hi all,
I just got a new computer with XP home on it. I am trying severly to run a DOS game (Renegade: Battle for Jacobs Star) and
I have tried compatibilty mode, DOS boot disks, Switching to a lower screen depth and resolution, and some other things, and nothing works.
I keep getting an error message that reads:
Mel Protected error
does anyone know what kind of error this is and how to fix it? Also, since my computer is new, I assume I have a farly new video card in it. Do the newer video codes even have a VESA mode?
Im thinking I probably have to run this game in VESA mode.
Is the Mel Protected error a video or VESA problem?
I am just guessing at a lot of things right now, but if anyone knows what I have to do here to run DOS stuff, please help.
