Load needed DLLs for Kernel

WinXP Pro w/RAID-0: Will not boot normally nor in Safe mode (nor last good config.). Error message: "Load needed DLLs for Kernel."

Also, will not boot from CD in attempting a repair/reinstall (as recomended by MS KB 326671). Error message: "Cannot locate HHD. please attached HHD. . . . .). All cables/ BIOS setting checked. POST recognizes RAID array.

Question: Other than a reformat and fresh install, is there a way to first save some documents?

How about booting the recovery console and running chkdsk?
