lsass.exe consuming 100% of CPU

lsass.exe consuming 100% of CPU

When I attempt to connect to the Interent on my ISDN connection, my PC starts running really slow. When I open Task Manager, I discover lsasss.exe is consuming 95-99% of CPU power. I'm running WIn2K Professional.

I've run Sophos and AVG Anti Virus sofware to remove any viruses. I had only one (free Music) which was removed. I've run Adaware and Spybot spy ware removal programs, but I still have the same problem. Can anyone advise what may be my problem and how I can fix it?

Are you up on service packs? Lots of references found on lsass.exe issues that have been resolved via: service packs and hotfixes.
