Post Makefile on Windows or Unix?

Is the script Makefile only used on UNIX systems or can it be used on Windows XP Pro? How would I use it on Windows XP Pro?

Get the Cywin distro, which is a port of the most popular GNU programs to Windoze. It includes GNU make. Of course *NIX sources that use exotic libs won't get compiled due to the absence of the libs. (Linux stuff mostly works, e. g. WindowMaker.)

when I try to install things, I try and type 'make' but it says 'make is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file'

I am trying to install mod_ssl for my Apache 1.3.22 server on Windows XP Pro. This is the page that is telling me exactly what to do: http://www.modssl.org/example/

Any suggestions?

I really don't enjoy writing RTFM replies, but here it is:

Please care to read and understand the instructions in the file INSTALL.Win32 before we discuss this further. Btw, if you do what they say, you won't have the problem that you described. Btw2: your link points to the Linux installation procedure.
