    Microsoft thinks I'm French

    Hi

I'm running Win XP Pro and all the websites I visit keep telling me I'm french (e.g. I go to google.com and it forwards me to google.fr). The nationality settings are all correct however it keeps sending me to the wrong sites

Use a utility to trace your IP, something like visualroute will tell you where your IP resolves to.

whatsmyip.org will get your external interface IP, this is what the sites are making their judgement on I'd guess.

Who's your ISP? Are they a french operation?

Some people, when confronted with a problem, think "I know, I'll use regular expressions." Now they have two problems.

hi all, thanks for the replies.

    1. I'm using a full English (UK) version of XP Pro.
    2. I don't use a proxy.
    3. My pc is part of a home network and none of the computers get this issue, so no problem there.
    4. BBC.co.uk keeps sending me to the international pages rather than the uk ones.
    5. Language settings are all correct.
    6. It happens in different browsers as well (IE7, Opera 9.01 etc)

routing very rarely depends on OS, who's your ISP?
