Modify "Open with" option in windows Vista
In win XP, when you right click a file and select "Open With" it immediately shows programs associated with it, but under Vista it does not, you have to click on it to see the list of programs. Is there any way to modify it so that it will work as in XP.

I'm not all that sure that you can as I think it's the way Vista has been developed. Let me have a play around in the registry to see if anything is possible in there and I'll get back to you.

In Vista, if you right click an unknown file, you should be presented with an 'Open' option and if clicked, receive the identical box as in XP:
2 radio buttons; 1-stating to the effect, 'Use the web to find a program' and 1-stating 'Select from a list of installed programs'.... If it a known file type you should still be presented with the 'Open With...' option (at least I am on my Vista machine right now) Now, the 1 downfall in Vista is you can't manage file type to application mappings in 'Folder Options' like you could in 2000/XP...

Actually I'm looking for something else, in XP its easy to use keyboard shortcuts (may be because I'm used to it now), but under vista you've to click it, so you need to use mouse, so you cannot use keyboard only, and it defeats the purpose of having keyboard shortcuts.

I noticed that now Vista is showing that option, and I can use shortcut keys as on winXP. Does Vista learn based on how you use it, because I was using "open with" for a lot of times. Initially it didn't use to give that option, and now it works how I wanted without changing any settings.
