MSCONFIG / REGEDIT dissapears too fast in XP Pro
when I try to run regedit or msconfig, the window either dosen't open at all or only pops up for 1 second. Same problem in task manager.
Running XP pro, all updates installed, logged in as administrator & system is clean under updated version of Norton 2003. I did have W32 Welchia & Blast previously but they've been cleaned. Do I need to reinstall something ?

viruses are know to cause and leave these problems behind, regedit and msconfig are key things viruses like to stop for the reason if you disable thier startup they become "dead". if you are sure the viruses are removed, i would use something like panda on-line scan to verify, drop in the xp disk, and either repair or reinstall xp, as long as you dont format it will leave your files and settings, may have to reinstall service pack 1 , but will fix the system.
