Netscape file associations on Windows 2000

this has been a long-standing pain in my butt, and has happened to me on multiple win2k boxes.

basically, i've got netscape 4.x (the version number is irrelevant, i've seen it happen with 4.08, 4.75, 4.78, etc.) and netscape 6.2 installed on the same machine. each time i open netscape 4.x to test something, it "steals" all file associations from netscape 6.2, becoming the default viewer/editor for .html/.js files and HTTP/HTTPS protocols. this has only ever happened to me on win2k (never on 9x/NT, and i've rarely used ME/XP), and occurs even if i don't associate netscape 4.x with any file types during its installation.

    help!

    I can't really help you
    but in my opinion
    netscape 4 is obsolete
most netscape users are on linux and
they are likely not using it

i agree with you completely--i'm definitely not a NS4 fan. but due to client requirements, i can't exactly stop coding for it...
