Question Networking win2k to win XP

Hello all,

Here is my problem:

I want to transfer files from computer A (Win2k) to computer B (WinXP). Both computers have ethernet cardand are connected by a crossover cable (Cat5). I tried all methods but not successful.
From computer B (WinXP), it asks me to enter username and password. After I made entries, it said: you have no permission to access computer A.

Can someone show me step by step to do this? I am not experienced in networking. I only want to transfer files from computerA to computerB.

Thanks.

I don't know if it will work for you but it did for me (I had a router between them) But use the network wizard in WindowsXP and follow the steps according to what you want. Then when it asks you to make a floppy disc do it. Reboot. Go to your Win2000, use the floppy, it will install a couple of things (You may need the Windows 2000 CD-ROM) and it will reboot. Then when you restart the netword wizard will show up on it. Do the sme things. Reboot both computers and it should work.

NOTE: This may not be too accurate because I only did it once and I kind of forgot a couple of little details

You have already accomplished the hard part. Try signing on as the administrator of A. If you cannot sign on to computer A, try signing on to computer B from A. Either way should work just as well. You will need to place files in a shared folder to view them or use the administrative hidden share (typed into your browser: \\computername\c$ or \\computerip\c$).
