since i got a linksys router i haven't been able to see the network and shared drives. I'm not sure if this is because of the router (using DHCP) or because i have added zone alarm firewalls to all the clients. I've installed the latest firmware from linksys (supposedly works w/ zonealarm now) do i have to have some special settings on zonealarm? (trusted zone is on medium, supposed to see network shares)
thanks xbe |

First...get rid of zone alarm.
![]() Try shutting zone alarm down on some of the machines. If you see the network, it was zone alarm blocking ports. -OR- If you set up your router to block ports, free up port 138 & 139 for NetBios. |

ok, tried turning off zonealarm, didn't help.
i checked the settings on the router, and i'm not sure how to open up the ports assuming they are all blocked unless forwarded and they have to be forwarded to a specific IP. so would i have to put every clients IP in and forward these ports? and are they UDP or TCP? thanks' xbe |

If you're using DHCP, you should be starting from an IP, assumed a private address 192.168.* for a specified range, you should then add that range to the trusted zone. This may have been different before the addition of your router.
I'm using ZA, and a combined Firewall/Router, and haven't had any problems thus far Ax |
