Nothing in the Network Connections Window

I have a somewhat similiar problem. Running XP, AMD 2600+ and I just installed a new SOYO KT400 MB (with onboard LAN as opposed to a previous NIC card) Now when I go to Control Panel/Network Connections, the window is blank, no icons at all. The network capability is enabled, as I can access the internet (Cable connection), but there is no way I can check the properties.
Is this something peculiar with this motherboard or what?
I would appreciate any help out there

Do you have a firewall installed on the pc that is having issues? Is this a Domain or Workgroup setup? Are you on the same subnet?

Prior to installing the motherboard, I disabled the XP firewall because I wanted to use another program, but after the install, when I wanted to make sure the XP firewall was when I found that nothing appears in my "Network Connections" pane.
This is simply a single computer, using a cable internet connection, not on a network so to speak. Prior to putting the new mother board in, the "Network Connections" pane displayed my old dial up connection as a dialup and it showed my current internet connection as Lan 2, from which I could right click and select properties. Now nothing shows up, I've configured the folder options to show all files, refreshed the window, etc.
The LAN works, since I have as good an internet connection as before, it's just that I can't see it

The network connection will display information in regards to the modem/nic, etc. How are you connecting to the internet? Wireless? Direct modem connection?

Unhappy What I did to fix it

I had this problem last night, kept me up till 4am
Running Win2000 on a computer that has two NIC's, one is wireless. While trying to configure the network (I removed a router and added a crossover cable between two computers), when I rebooted all of a sudden the icons in networka nd dial-up connections was gone. I took out both Nic's and the "make new connections" icon reappeared. But when I plugged the NIC's Back in they would be gone. So I had to go to add/remove hardware in the control panel and uninstall them. Then restart and reinstall the NIC's. Even though your NIC is on your motherboard, you should still be able to uninstall/reinstall it. Hope this helps.
