Office 2003's installer terminated with a msiexec error code of 1603...

    Hi!

I had an issue with the ms-office 2003 installer that end with error. So, looking into the office 2003 setup log in the temporary folder, I saw that MSIEXE (MSI installer) had end with an error of 1603. So, researching the M$ knowledge base, it said "Fatal error during installation". With further searchign in the log I came upon this...

    --snip--
    Checking for Windows Installer....
    C:\WINDOWS\System32\MSI.DLL
    .. succeeded.
Checking for any beta version of the product.
    dwNoLtCoExist = 0
    Error 0x80070002
failed to open product's delivery key
    Reading from "D:\FILES\SETUP\SETUP.INI": "Cache\CDCache" (Default: 0)
    Value: auto
    General properties added: LAUNCHEDFROMSETUP="1" SETUPEXEPATH="D:\" SETUPEXENAME="SETUP.EXE"
    --snip--

So, I did some further research about Error 0x800700002 and came upon this..

    --snip--
This issue may occur because the Microsoft Windows Registry is corrupted and a registry key that provides the path of the original installation source for the Microsoft Office 2003 program is missing. Or, some third-party programs that modify the Microsoft Windows Registry removed the registry keys that are required by the Office 2003 Setup program.
    --snip--

Then blah blah blah.. So, I followed the knowledge on fixing it but found that everything in the registery is okay. So, what seem to be the problem? I did uninstall the publish, access and powerpoint but later could not install the access.

    Thanks...

    P.S. I also found this...

    --snip--
    StartCache: already cached cabinet: ZA561402.CAB
    StartCache: already cached cabinet: ZD561402.CAB
StartCache: Error 0x80070490: failed to get cabinet: ZF561407.CAB
StartCache: Error 0x80070490: failed to set state for cabinet: ZF561407.CAB
Action ended 17:03:34: StartCache. Return value 3.

Never mind that. It took me 1 1/2 days to fix this problem. What I have here is a 2 different versions of Office 2003 on my machine. When my company bought the machine from Dell, it doesn't have any MS-Office on it and I got the MS-Office 2003 CD that came with it. So, installed one. That was 1 1/2 years ago.

Today, I had problem with Access and Visual Basic because things don't add up. So I had to re-install it but that doesn't work so I uninstall it and re-install it which doesn't work either. I ended up had no Access since it couldn't be install again which is a very bad thing. With a long time research, I found that I have 2 different version of Office 2003. So, I got some help from a 1/2 day of Google search and came upon this webpage.

    --snip--
I found that Dell is using the Enterprise version to run the OEM installs of
the Office 2003 product. So this cab will not exist on most Office CD sets.

If you download and run the msicuu2.exe installer cleanup utility (from
Microsoft), select only the Office product. This eliminates all the regkeys
forjust the Office suite. Then reinstall Office from the packaged CD's.

Takes a little time but eliminates the problem.
    --snip--

Gee! I'm never goign to buy Dell computer again.

The first post is asking for help after I ran into dead end for a day. Then half of a day later, I found the answer and post it so it could help someone who might have this problem one day.
