Open connections to the DC's

I have recently been seeing a select group of stations keeping an open connection to the W2K Domain Controllers. Reason is unknown at this point. I need to investigate in case it is tied to virus, security hole, or other concern. Began happening in March. Seems to be a fairly consistent group of Windows 2000 stations.
Any ideas as to why this may be happening?
