Password protecting specific web folders

Hello,

I am trying to password protect specific folders on the server so that a username/password prompt apears when someone browses to that folder. I have tried creating a user in IIS and adding it to the folder using NTFS permissions but have not had any success.

Does anyone know how to approach this? Which IIS & NTFS steps to make and in which order?

Any help much appreciated.
