pop killers.... which one?

I'm under attack from all directions. Yes you got it right. Pop - Ups.

I'd be very grateful if anyone could tell me of any decent pop-up killer that actually does the job.

Thanks

pop up killers

if you do find a good pop up killer that dont do something totally aggrevating, let me know too, i found the pop ups are less annoying than the pop up killers, they all do something i dont like or have to configure constantly, and for the computers i use or service users are constantly contacting me wondering why something will not work, from email to game sites like pogo, it seems to cause voice degridation at yahoo and paltalk also, so it is catch 22, either you put up with the ads, or the ad blocker. i choose the ads, you manually block some, but will have to go back and allow to load some things. so there again, it is a real pain.

I think the best is the Proxomitron. The developer sold the code but the program has been maintained by a group of volunteers.

It does not install anything outside of its own folder, so you could set it up using settings which allow most things to function well, then zip it up and give to your associates and tell them not to change the settings.

It is effective and fast and can do much much more. And it is freely available here: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/prox-list/files/
you may have to join the free yahoo group.

the two files you will want are the program that only needs to be unziped...ProxN45j.zip

and an additional filter.... AdContainerRemover.zip in the Filters/Spam Removers/ folder.

I haven't seen a single ad or even a shell since including this filter. Unzip it and drop it into the lists folder within the Proxomitron folder, Then copy paste the contents of the .cfg file to the end of Proxo's default.cfg file.

I wondered where proxomitron had gone, I've been looking since I reformatted. Thanks for the link, mojosoupus
