Port Forwarding and XP
I've been looking on the web for the past 2 days and its impossible to find good information on this topic so I am going to ask here.
I have set up port forworing on my XP computer to point the telnet and httpd port onto my linux box.
This is my Set up
DSL MODEL --> XP BOX --> Shared Connection on PPoE connection--> Bridge between the two network cards --> 2nd Network Card points to Hub --> Hub has a bunch of puters on it with the linux box.
I am not behind a firewall or anything altho I dont see how it would metter.
Anyways, I can access telnet from my computers if I telent to that specific IP the linux computer is sitting on, but when I do port forwording and try to telnet to my DSL ip it wont connect, or from my main computer when I try to telnet to localhost it wont budge either. Also when I try to connect to the httpd server it just shows me a bunch of files on my main computer which is weird because I dont have a web server running on that computer.... the port forwording is set up to point to the IP on the linux box and I checked the ip like a million times everything seem to be set up right...
I am not sure and I could not find any troubleshooting FAQs on the web and microsoft has little to say about port forworing, I was also unable to find any third party software that might let me do this.... so any help would be greatly appreaciated.
Thank you.
