Remove a Windows XP Installation

I tried to install Windows XP, but I don't want to continue it. When I boot the computer, it always shows the options of whether I want to boot from the installer or from the hard drive. HOw do I remove the temporary files responsible for the installation?

maybe search the hard drive for temp folders or folders bearing XP on them. be sure to include hidden system folders/files in the search. then delete them

I forgot to mention that I have XP. I was going to reinstall XP, but changed my mind.

heh, well that takes away that option.... i know xp creates an install folder somewheres to load all the stuff from. maybe look in the windows directory for an install folder and see if there is some temp folder in there? i donno, there are plenty of xperts on here that prolly know better than me but that's what i would try. actually i just thought of something else, go to start->run and type msconfig. see fi there are some services that look like install scripts and disable them and see if that helps, if it doesnt work or if it ****s up u can always boot to safemode and put it back to normal

Also, since you are RUNNING XP NOW, you could system restore to any point before you tried the installation. XP Setup adds an entry to the MBR and the only way I got rid of it was to "restore" back to before I ran the setup.

He also wants to remove the temporary files, not just the boot option.

hehe
basically edit boot.ini from dos and remove winxp entries, then delete a winnt or related winxp folder
or start to DOS and look for \windows\system32\osuninst.exe - this file uninstalls winxp from command prompt
