I have a speedstream 2604 router with DHCP enabled.. w/ 3 comps connected to ... 1 win2000, 1 winMe, and 1 winXP....... Everything was working fine until i ran spyware remover on the computers...... the 2000 and Me machines are running fine... but now the Xp is not.... It isnt receiving the DHCP from the router and will not connect to the internet now... any ideas? ive tried fixed IPs and everything but still nothing works.....any ideas... i need some help please...thanks....

question is why isn't xp getting a dhcp address.
make sure the cable is connected and the lights are on the nic. check your dns config on xp. make sure it is pointing to your isps dns. for testing disable any firewall software. Uninstall tcp/ip and reinstall. Set to default of dhcp and see what happens. |
