Running VBScript on a locked down PC...
When I say locked down PC... I mean the Group Policy for "Run Only Allowed Windows Applications" is enabled. Is there a work around to run a vbscript with this option on?
I want to be able to run a script that unlocks all policies... and another that puts them back in place. I tried adding the .vbs file to the App list for the policy... that doesn't work. Any ideas? |

If you could run a script that unlocks policies, it would kind of defeat the purpose of policies

See if you can access it from the command pprompt. I have used this workaround in limited environments before.

Tried the command prompt and it wouldn't work. I can get Paint to come up that way... but not my script.
Yes, I realize that would defeat the purpose of Policies... but it's an easy way to service a box while keeping users out of things. (We aren't using Active Directories.) When I turn the Run Only Allowed Policy off... the script works wonderfully. I just have to find a work around for it. |

So... I found a work around... good enough for me anyways.
I stuck the script in an HTA. Linked to it from an HTML page... and voila. It also works on the local machine if you open the webpage through IE. Just reboot after running and you are good to go. |
