server files from behind filewall... no port forward

I work in a corporate office, behind a firewall, and want to be able to get into my computer from home.
I know the sysadmin won't allow a port forward, but I've heard that there's programs around that will let you bypass the firewall by hitting an unreserved port.....
anybody hear of such a thing?

yes, there is ways.
but your sysadmin will kick your b*** if you do it. and your boss might kick you too (from your job)... for flawing the corporationsīs security

you could:
- start the connection from your machine in the office (eg. make load a webpage every 1 minute and if the webpage says "i want to get online" make the office machine connect to your home machine) - only works if your office machine can connect to the outside on any port

- use a "piercing" program, i.e. a tunnel though another protocol that is allowed like http or dns - also works if you are only allowed to surf web pages from your corporate machine.

- setup a dial-in account on your machine (if it has a modem / isdn card)

...?

If i was your sys admin i would be pissed!

but here is how to do it via http/web port 80.

install winvnc from realvnc.com

this is assuming you can write to the registry, start services, and install programs which is a 'poweruser' level status for the most part.

now at home you can tunnel through the server if you happen to have a static ip address to the web. and type in your webbrowser:

http://192.168.0.1:5800

where the 192.168.0.1 represents your computers static IP.

Then again the sys admin is a moron if he doesn't have a firewall, IDS, running over NAT with dynamic ip's and pretty much lets people walk in to their system.

However if their boss is dumb and thinks a firewall is a frill and doesnt pay OS licens fees because no one will find out, you have a really good shot to bust in easy; especially if you have physical acess to the server .

Better just ask your sys admin for external access.

----------

Even better you could just set up a modem dial on a scheduled task at work to call your home computer to create a connection.
