agreed. win2k was not designed for games (even though most of them work)

winXP is "win2k home edition" - imho just as stable and easier to use and a good emulation for 8/16 bit software which had 2 updates already so it seems to be constantly under development.

there is no "winXP server version" - does anyone know why? is it only supposed to run on clients or is this another step (back or forward?) into peer to peer networking?

M.Hirsch,

Microsoft is going to release .Net Servers as the next version from Windows 2000, currently XP is for clientside only.

Windows XP Pro can also handle the games, as well.

Smile

Does anyone know why there's a bunch of replys to why the sims won't work but none to why a user with user rights can't get pictureviewer to work? Is it that difficult, or should it have been posted that flight sim won't display the right picutres?

Exclamation Win2k and The Sims

Way back in the day, when I was a Network Administrator for a corporation, I had The Sims and The Sims Livin' Large installed on the Win2k Advanced Server. It ran. In fact, it ran damn well for a 500MHz AMD with alot of network strain. Now I go and buy The Sims Deluxe Edition, and install it on my Win2k Pro on my computer, and it does exactly what you say it does. I don't know why win2k advanced server, running on a MUCH slower machine (500MHz Vs. 1.3GHz) could run it fine when on a 1.3GHz computer with Win2k pro can't...
