Trying to get a XP-Pro (guest) / W2K ICS (server) connection working...
Hi,
I've done my howmework by reading docs, browsing support forums such as this one, trying several variants and i'm still stuck. Configuration: - a W2K server with a USB-enabled ADSL, and a frehsly installed PCI-Ethernet card that works. - an XP-Pro (client) with frehsly installed PCI-Ethernet card that works. - A crossover cable between both Ethernet cards. Ultimate goal: - Getting the XP-Pro acessing the Internet through the W2K server with a USB-enabled ADSL connection. - Accessing the W2K SQL server and SourceSafe facilities. Problem: - The W2K's "Computers near me" does not show anything but itself - The W2K is showed on the "View workgroup computers" view on the XP-Pro. But any right-click attempt results in the following error pop-up: "\\w2kname is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. The network path was not found." Could this have anything to do with instsalling NetBEUI on XP? With creating a user account on W2K? with some security policy settings on either side? Many thanks in advance, Eric |
