Hi, I'm new to the forum and I am having the same exact problem dahawak was having. I tired to check out the link where he found a solution, but could not see the replies even when scrolling down. Could someone let me know how he got rid of the icons? Thanks.

I had the same problem getting an answer. Finally got the version of the page that had the replies. Here is the link cited there for the download I used successfully:

Cannot delete file:Cannot read from the source file or disk
Hello I saw that you were having the exact same problem as me. ON my desktop is a file icon with nothing in it 0bytes. I can't delete it or move it or rename it. Would you be able to give me any help on how you eneded up fixing the problem. I clicked on the link you put up but it took me to some other site. Any help would be awesome, it ins't doing anything, but like you I don't need the excess clutter on my desktop.

Hi krome and welcome to Dev Shed.

The link posted above by dahawk takes you to another site, but allows you to download 'DelinvFile' which will allow you to delete your problem file. Scroll down the page a little and you will see the link to download it.

Thumbs up DelinvFile - Utility for Deleting Invalid Files - great tool!
I found in My Documents 7 files - size: zero bytes, names: like CAAZMZ2X. (CAxxxxxx.)

I try delete files:
"Cannot Delete File: Cannot read from source file or disk."

Then I have read many post and found this utility:
DelinvFile - Utility for Deleting Invalid Files

With this great tool I have deleted all CAxxxxxx.zero byte files!
