Unable to run localhost

I have installed IIS. When I now try to open any file residing in c:\inetpub\wwwroot with my browser in this way: http://localhost/myFile, I get an error message: page could not be found.

Browser > Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Unchecking 'show friendly http error messages' did NOT help.

Any advice on how to get files appearing in browser through localhost would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Have you used iis before, or changed any settings since you installed it?

Thankfully, I have solved the problem.

I have XP Home, and I used this to install IIS: http://www.15seconds.com/issue/020118.htm.

He gives all the steps. Once I figured out what he meant in the last step (#9), all was fine.
