Upgrade to Win 2k = no data loss?
Bit of a foolish question, just can't remember: If I upgrade from Windows 98 to 2000 via booting from Win2k CD and installing there will be no loss of data, and all programs should run in 2k how I left them in 98, there will just be a new OS underneeth, correct?
Thanks. (And sorry about the run-on sentance ) |

Why would you boot from the cd? All you have to do is put the cd in the drive while you are logged in to windows 98. The CD will autorun, and you can upgrade from there.
Your settings and data will be maintained, however, there may be compatibility issues with some programs and hardware, which you will have to deal with. |

Thanks Karsh. Only reason I boot from CD is Explorer crashes whenever Windows 98 starts, this my main reason I need to upgrade.

If you are booting from the cd, I'm not sure that your files will all be maintainted.
