    Using Windows XP for programming

Could you use Windows XP (Professional 32-bit) for programming/software development. You could, but could you do so effectively? What would some problems be?

Your first problem is that in less than one year Microsoft will no longer be patching security holes in XP, so as soon as the first one is found your system will be completely insecure forever.

Also it depends on what language you're developing in. XP works fine for MUMPS development, for example, but may not be adequate for newer NET development.
