Web Browser that uses least resources
I recently fixed an older computer that was running extremly slow. It now is running respectively. The problem is that this machine only has 500 mb of ram. I mentioned to the owner (senior citzen) that he cannot open all his programs at the same time. I noticed that he was using IE 8 for his browser. I suggested that he try Opera 10, suppose to use less resources and downloaded it for him.
My friend mentioned that he thought Google Chrome used the least resources. In searching the web, I find there are many different opinions on this subject.
Anyone have suggestions - a browser that doesn't hog ram, yet is secure?

If I had to guess I would say Chrome too. The only thing I can say for sure is that it isn't Firefox.
I checked the Processes in Windows Task Manager:
Opera uses the least resources .
IE next, than Chrome and Firefox was the worst user.
Someone mentioned to me that QTWeb and K-Melon may use even fewer resources. Of course I need to consider security issues if I am to recommend any browser to a client.
Anyway I downloaded Opera on the users computer and left it as is for now.
Try using Lynx it is a text only browser and is extremely light weight
i suggested text only becuase as it is your telling us that your computer is not very capable hence the non graphic browser
The web browser that uses least resources is Opera.
without exception, there is no rule ...

Some people, when confronted with a problem, think "I know, I'll use regular expressions." Now they have two problems.
