Web Server on Winxp

Newbie question!?!

I've got BroadBand ( always on internet connection ) and i want to set up my own internet http server. I've got an FTP client running at the moment, but i want a full HTTP server.

I don't want to change to UNIX or Linux, just stay with WinXP.

What software do i need to install, and how do i go about setting all this up?!

for windows users that don´t care about security and want click-and-work-or-not configuration:
go to
control panel / software / windows setup
install web-services (iis)


but this is not even 10% of the work to successfully run a web server. for howto, go to www.microsoft.com

i prefer apache, but it requires you getting deep into system / server configuration not to f´ it up... depends on what your needs are.
