How did you uninstall Backup & Restore? Are you sure it wasn't an extra program that came with your computer, like NTI or Norton or something like that? If so, check your CDs that came with your computer for one called "Applications" or "Software", but it in, and you should be able to re-install the program.

Google should be able to help you with your Apple question.

Also, backups (usually) have nothing to do with hardware. I'll see if a mod will move this to Windows Help.

Mac's have a feature called Time Capsule built into them which allows you to backup to a network drive or external drive. Windows 7 uses a built-in imaging software called Backup and Restore. If you removed it, you may be able to re-install it by going to start>control panel>programs and features>turn windows features on/off.

A quick Google search, as Jim pointed out, will also help.

Windows 7 has it built in. In the Control Panel->System and Security, its called Backup and Restore. Plug an external drive in, run the Backup and Restore, and figure it out. Its not that hard.

When you need to restore, boot off your Windows 7 DVD with the drive plugged in, and follow the instructions.

For the Mac, plug in a drive and turn on Time Machine. You're done.

For offsite files, look at Crashplan or Backblaze for both.

Did you actually do some research?
