What do you mean by where? Do you mean geographic location, the physical location of their servers? Or what? A firewall like zonealarm will alert you when programs try to access the internet. You can use samspade.org to find information about web addresses. If this isn't what you want, try to explain a bit more what you mean

if you know the name of the program you would like to find out the url on, check the reg, example. go to start, then run, type regedit, run it
now say you are looking for, yahoo, go to the yahoo folder, then the ypager folder, shows you the url for the updater and it's other crap it checks for. same goes for anything that goes on the net.

If you need information about the url once you find it, samspade.org will tell you all about who registered the name, their contact info, etc. Neo trace (not free) is a program that will find the physical location of the servers with that url (some of the time).

i am pretty sure it is hard coded into the program. Is there a spi program that will tell me when certain api functions are called and what parameters?
