where has xp search tool gone

The search tool in my start menu no longer shows up so I have nothing to clik on. No viruses or worms found by scanners.

Looked thru Google and could not find any references. Reloaded windows xp over itself to no avail.

It's possible a new reg cleaner I have might have removed it.

Is there some trick I can use to get it reinstalled?

Thanks

Stan

before trying anything too drastic, try this:

open the start menu
right click on the user name at the top
choose properties
on the "start menu" tab, with the standard start menu radio selected(rather than classic start menu), click the customize button.
go to the "advanced" tab
put a check in the box next to "search"(it should be near the bottom of the list)

hth,
