win 2k / win xp multi boot problems

system setup like this...

1st OS installed = win xp home on c:\ ide 0

2nd OS installed= win 2K serv pak 1 on d:\ ide 1

after insatll it seems that both boot options are pointing towards win 2K as XP will no longer load... (if you select XP from the boot menu it goes to the win 2K load up screen...)

any info to get this sorted without a Win XP reinstall would be greatly apreciated.

has this happened because i installed xp first.....?

is there any way i can edit the mbr to point the XP option back to its real folder...?

Have you tried...

The systems are on seperate harddrives? Try disconnecting the one with W2k... Or try hiding the partition... there are different ways to do this, one is by using Partition Magic...
Try booting up with the Winxp CD ind CD-rom..

Well just some suggestions I could think of...

I did the same thing. To fix this problem, install XP over your Win2k Partition.

they probably share the drive letter with one harddisk now. go to the hardware manager and change either one.
