WIN ME** compaq presario 1200 laptop

My Problem ---

upon booting...it freezes on 'compaq' logo....goes no further.....

My attempts to fix it ---

i can press esc during mem scan...and it shows scanning but then freezes...i can also press f10 to enter setup....but freezes....

ive taken the cmos battery out and left it out for about an hour....still freezes....

what else can i try???

Sounds like memory. Do you have extra memory in the expansion slot? If so, pull it and try booting.

damn man didnt expect to be answered so quickly lol....nah i dont have one....but y would that be causin it to freeze....

and also...where exactly is tha memory....i cant seem to locate it.....not under tha kepad...or tha hdd...hmmmm...lol

Not much else to check with a laptop. I'd pull that extra SODIMM if there is one. I believe the onboard RAM is 64MB so if you have anything more than that showing up, you know you go an expansion module.

Thanks for the offer, but not much for IM.

The memory expansion slot is usually a small flap on the bottom of the machine, usually held on with just one screw.

Also, if you have a removable floppy / CDRom, pull them. Maybe one's shorted.
