Win XP upgrade off full version disk.
I have a full version disk of XP home that I want to install on my PC that is currently running Windows98. Will I have to format my hard drive before installing or can I just insall it over win98 as an upgrade. The Microsoft site says that you can upgrade using the full version ( URL) but doesn't say how. When I run setup off the XP home CD it only gives the option of a new installation. I want to keep all of my Win98 Files so really need to upgrade rather than clean install. When I put the disk in it shows the options of install, perform additional tasks or check compatability. When I click on install, setup starts but only gives the option of new installation.
The packaging on the CD says for distribution only with a new PC. I think I'm snookered, can anyone help?
