Win2000 network login problem
Hi all!
i'm getting ill trying to solve this problem I have a pc with both linux and windows installed on. Let's say that it has two accounts for sharing files: Code:
on Windows: Account: myName Pass: myPass_01 on Linux: Account: myName Pass: myPass_02 On the other pc i have installed windows. The problem is: - I logon on a shared folder of the first pc from the second. - Switch OS on the first pc from linux to windows - And now i can't access the first pc because the account has a different password! I can't logon again until i reboot... ![]() I know that i can simply make the two passwords the same...but why i MUST do that???? So, is there a way to make windows not remember the login settings? I thought a solution to this stupid thing, that is when the login fails it asks again for user and passwork instead of keep saying "Hey, you can't access that pc!" (but maybe it's too advanced for M$ )Last edited by tank80 : April 4th, 2003 at 04:25 PM. |

Windows networking is weird, eh?
![]() Give the machine another netbios name when you are in linux. It should work then.

If you use the net use command at the command line you can force a different user. for more info 'net use /?'

with net use you can force a user if you are mapping a share, not if you simply connect through "network places", right?
i found this should solve the problem: NET SESSION [\\nomecomputer] [/DELETE] i'll give it a try later. Thanks however ![]() |
