Windows Explorer Error

Hi, I need help involving an application error with explorer.exe when I access the 'My Videos' folder located in C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\My Videos. About 15 seconds after I view the folder in Explorer I get a message saying:

"explorer.exe - Application Error

The instruction at "0x0567c3e3" referenced memory at "0xffffffff". The memory could not be "read".

Click on OK to terminate the program
Click on CANCEL to debug the program"

Also I simultaniously get the common error message:
"Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
. . and asks me if I would like to send the error report or not.

Obviously, any option I choose still closes Windows Explorer which prevents me from viewing my files in the "My Videos" folder.

Can anyone help me here? any help is greatly appreciated

Specs:
OS: Windows XP Media Center Edition v.2002 SP2
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ @2.0GHz
Memory: 1GB of RAM
Graphics: Radeon X800XT 256MB

Hey there, welcome to devshed.

You might want to first try setting the folder options to display as a list instead of thumbnails, if you have it set to thumbnails already. If that doesn't work, try this

thanks

thanks for the help! changing the viewing options works fine . . i'm going to use a system file check to see if i have any missing DLLs, but most of the codecs are common so i'm not sure why it's doing it.

Running the system file check should replace any corrupt or missing files too. Although, running that won't affect any of your codecs. Try re-installing them, or even installing the K-Lite codec pack.

Your windows is missing some dlls or hijacked by some malware.
Download HiJackThis and do a full scan of your PC to see whether there is a malware that is hijacking essential services of windows. HiJackThis is the free, small and efficient tool which i recommend to everyone who get errors.
