windows installed wrong driver so i cant install right driver

Edit/// windows XP

Window being the pathetic os that it is. installed a driver that it thought was right for my network card.
yet it isnt right.
its installed a 3com driver instead of a realtek driver.

no when i go to change the driver i choose to select it from location. i choose the correct inf file. and windows gives me an error.

This file does not contain information about your hardware.

This is obviously because it thinks it something else now.
how can i stop it from doing this.

iv uninstalled the hardware disabled it in bios. restarted so it was gone, reenabled it. it stil comes back and sticks the 3com driver on.

someone please help

thanks
Rob

wrong driver

as unlikely as it is for xp to install the wrong drive, go to start, control panel, may have to switch to classic view, then system, hardware, device manager, right click and remove the network card. reboot, install the driver you want to
