Windows Installer on Athalon XP
After reloading an Athalon XP 1800+ machine with an MSI motherboard with Windows 2k, I am no longer able to run Windows installer (MSI) packages. I have updated to the latest MSIExec and have even installed SP4. Nothing seems to work. I am able to uninstall MSI's, but am not able to install. Has anyone seen this problem before? I get an Action aborted message for even the simplest of MSI's. (i.e. Copy executable and install shortcuts)

are you talking about the msi auto updater, about a month ago someone brought a msi k7 turbo, the auto updater said it needed updated, downloaded the update from msi's site it didnt work after loading the net installer it asked for, either it wouldnt download the file, or if the file did download it wouldnt work. couldnt find nothing wrong with the os, but backed it up reinstalled. didnt bother with the live driver crap, just found the drivers i needed they all worked fine. think the new build for thier live update has problems.

Not autoupdater. MSIExec.exe. Windows Installer. When I try and install an MSI, it fails. The Windows Installer service is running, I reinstalled the latest MSIExec, updated to SP4, nothing seems to help. My MSI's run on all of my other machines. I've updated to WinXP and it works fine now. However, I did save the Win2k load on a removable drive, so I can try various fixes as I get more ideas. I build MSI's for a living and this one has me stumped.
