Hi praera2000 and welcome to devshed. Please see the sticky at the top where Problems with Administrator and User Passwords in Windows XP discusses your problem.
Hope that helps.

(^~;?(The sticky became too complex and what is where is lost seemingly now.)
Just delete \Windows\System32\config\SAM by some means.
ntfs4dos, Knoppix, win2k boot disks, or password recovery tools.

(Oo;?(You can use DOS, Linux or Win2000 Recovery Console, as these don't mind XP passwords. Or rather can't understand it.)
Though it may ask, you would just return, as there would be nothing set.

In XP Home Safe Mode, there is a default account named 'administrator' and then leave the password blank. Once you get logged in with admin privileges, then you can change the password on the account that you have been using.
