Question Windows XP Home - 2 Questions

I have two WIN XP Home computers on my office network. I can't get them to access any resources on the other computers except the T1 connection through the server. I am assuming this is because XP Home can't join a Domain (which I have). Is there any way to get the XP Home clients to access the other resources. I can find the computers fine, but when it comes to accessing a HD or printer it fails with a permission error.

Also, (in case there is no way to have them join or access resources) can XP home be upgraded to 2000. I would rather not do a complete re-install at this time.

Thanks

Bruce

this is not the best fix but what i have done is had the XP home point directly to the IPs of the device i need.

try not to use the HostName...
i.e. my XP Home Laptop points to
192.168.1.115/HPR80
if possible make the pc with the printer request the same ip everytime.. thats why i use 115 so it not in order and there is no chance of another computer in my house taking 115

Unhappy

KC - I have tried the Wizard .... but no luck. I am able to find all the resources fine and can use the gateway with no problem, but just can't get permission to access the resources.

Shocka - I tried your suggestion, but was still promted for a username, password, and domain. Even with entering this info, I was denied :-(

I can access the XP Home client from any other client and the server, but the only resource I can access is the shared HD on the server. I can't even access the printers off the server.

Shocka-
MS offers little on this subject. The only info I can find that relates is "upgrade to pro". I didn't notice the problem until I changes from share level acces to user level acces on my downlevel clients. This set all resources to be accessed only via the domain so...... Looks like I'm on the road to upgrade city. Probably for the better when all is said and done. Thanks for your input

maybe i am stating the obvious, have you right clicked the items you wish to share on both machines, printer also, go to the properties tab, then sharring and security tab and shared these items ? i am so used to the pro systems i forget home does not assume to share things.
