Windows XP - Right click freezing
Hi all!
At my work we have a domain with about 250 windows xp boxes. Everything is working fine but there is one issue that is confusing us. Sometimes, as an administrator, I need to copy one file to another PC on the network (everybodys hard drive is shared out). Whenever we go to Windows Explorer and browse to a computer by typing \\computername\sharename we CAN browse through files BUT when we, hightlight any file and right click to copy it , explorer hangs. Task manager shows explorer as not responding. Interestingly enough, when I go to the command prompt and type net use x: \\Computername\sharename, I can copy files at ease (through the command prompt) and it is very speedy. Why is explorer hanging all the time when I copy files??? Thx to all that reply. |

i have had similar problems, they usually are, depending on the drive i am accessing, cd drives, dirty disk, data corruption. in windows explorer from files and folder, either network traffic, more than one user accessing,or some program using some of the said items, also make sure programs like auto updaters for anything are not running somewhere on your network.
