windows xp without sounds
hello.
i just recently installed windows xp home edition and the sounds aren't functioning at all. my previous OS is windows 98 (not windows 98SE). i checked the sounds, nothing is muted, i also checked the device manager and it says that my sound card works perfectly fine. i also went to check administrative tools > services and found windows audio enabled. but then, no sounds comes out of my speaker. i tried to uninstall my sound card and let windows xp detect and reinstall it once i reboot, and it did. and still, no sound. by the way, i also checked if the cables are connected properly, and they are. please help me. ![]() |

Maybe your sound card isn't compatible with XP. Is it an integrated or stand-alone board? If stand-alone, do you know what model it is?
Use Belarc to scan your hardware if you don't want to open the case. Belarc Advisor http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html good luck Tom |
