hi, my large problem is that i just got my new rig up and running after a mobo shortage between it and the p/s so i had to build a new one. its up and running (sort of) with a newly installed xp home with all the current updates except the 811493: security patch , due to some heard problems with it . but i have updated all my drives. But my current problem is the random hang of freezing of windows, it randomly occurs during different programs and operations. i have done 3 full reinstalls on XPand ran all the current patches except the 1 mentioned above.
All programs on this computer ran on my old xp system so it cannot be that problem. Please help, any ideas would b vary helpful, thank you in advance I MAY B 15 BUT I KNOW WAT I M DOING~~~~~~~!@# |

You said all programs ran on your old XP system, but did they all run together? Check your logs to see what is happening when the computer freezes. You probably just have some conflict between drivers and some service packs or something along those lines. A new, stable driver should fix things, once you find where the conflict is.
(And please try to write correctly, it makes your question much easier to read) |

xp freeze
if it is a new motherboard, might want to check the bios, make sure to set the right speeds for the dram and the cpu, autoordefault may not be selected, or they may need to be manually set, also check to make sure you have os2 selected, plug and play os, ect. if it is a new board it probably has a manual, if not look up the manual on the net. but sounds like bios settings to me. are you overclocking?
