yes
yes john, i've readed that in particular abit kt7a, the one i have, gives that peculiar problem, but no one gives any further details on how to get rid of it (neither abit site gives any hints). someone says it is also a problem of graphic card, in particular the geforce 2; people say to substitute it with another type of card during installation, but i dunno how much this is important, because a month ago i already formatted again my pc, already with the same current hardware config, and i didn't get such problems.

The people I have heard of having troubles with this issue solved it by flashing thier BIOS w/ the latest version from Abit.

the problem is that i already flashed the bios once, six months ago, when i installed xp the first time!
could bios get erased after few months? is it "involuted"? i must format because a virus (w32/jeefo) passed under norton (nay, it DESTROYED the antivirus! along many other exes, included the windows unistaller); maybe that is the cause of bios "involution"? i guess not. some people says it is a problem of video card, geforce in particular, because xp doesn't like it, nevertheless paired with a abit mobo. though, when i installed xp last time, a month ago, i had geforce put onboard, and the installation proceeded neatly like oil. now, what has happened? |

Now, I'm assuming you have formatted and whatnot? So as to start on a fresh slate?

Oh, sorry. Well, I would just make sure that everything was off the drive, and just to be safe would flash the BIOS again.
