    "WINSOCK could not be initilized"

I got this error message after running a Virus check on an old XP.
I can't get it to connect to the internet since (I'm on a different machine right now)

any Idea how I can fix this?
    thanks a ton in advance

If you haven't rebooted, try that. Otherwise it looks like you have a corrupted winsock program, you might need to do a repair reinstall.
