    View registry on old HDD

Hey everyone. Mobo/something died on the old computer. There is some stuff I want from the registry of the old hard drive (dreamweaver site defs) Is there anyway to load the registry from an old HDD into something like regedit so I can easily grab what I need?

    Thanks

You can use regedit to open it. You'll need to use the option "Open Hive" (or "Load Hive") depending on your version of windows:

    Open regedit
select HKCU (For current user hive)
Click file - open hive (or load hive)
name it and do what you need to
    file - unload hive

    You'll need to load ntusers.dat

What options do you have listed? You should be looking at the File menu (not the right click menu)

When I chooce hkey_current_user the only options in the drop down are ...

    import,export,connect network registry,print and exit

the other options are greyed out

when I click on one of the other folders the options aren't greyed out

i've tried as an admin and regular user

Open regedit, click Help. Navigate to the 'load and unload hives' section. It tells you exactly how to do what you want to do.
